What happens after the referral...

Well, after I read our first and only entry, I realized you may be thinking that as soon as we get our referral we will be able to bring Mazzi home. This is NOT the case! The referral is the very first step in the long process. Once we have accepted the referral, we have to wait for many other events to occur before we can travel to get her. First, is DNA matching - to ensure the birthmother is really the birthmother. Then, many more hoops to jump through before we have final, final approval. This can take anywhere from 4 months (in an absolutely perfect world!) to one year (you'll be seeing us go crazy if that's the case!!). During this time, Mazzi will be living with a foster family. We will receive monthly updates (including photos) that will track her development, weight, length, etc. I will be sure to post these updates when we receive them.
